Facebook Click Bait Scam on the rise (again)

🕵️‍♂️ Here are some quick tips on spotting and avoiding these tricky clickbait tactics:

We've noticed an uptick in spammer profiles trying to sneak into our community Facebook posts, especially those related to rentals and sublease.

🕵️‍♂️ Here are some quick tips on spotting and avoiding these tricky clickbait tactics:

  1. Check the Profile: Spam profiles often have limited information, vague details, or no posts. Be wary if something feels off. (see images below)

  2. Verify Listings: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is! Always double-check rental or sublease listings. Legitimate ones provide detailed information and contact details.

  3. Avoid External Links: Be cautious of posts with external links. These can lead to spam websites or scams.

  4. Report and Block: If you suspect a spam profile, report it to Facebook and block the user. Let's keep our community safe!

How to spot if it’s spam or not:

In this specific example, we can see this person pretending to be Joy Patal commenting on one of the posts.

Keep posting the same links on posts where people are looking for rooms/rental apartments.

If you see/open the person’s profile, you will mostly see it’s locked and a brand new profile. They are not indeed a community member.
